217. Alan´s TRANSLATION 2.

(Do the translation and then check my translation below the song)

¿Que te pasa? No lo se. No me encuentro muy bien.
¿Has desayunado?
Me encantaría practicar mi inglés alli.
Porqué no vienes?

My Translation
Of course, other words or synonyms could be used. I will translate it my way.
If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

What´s the matter? I don´t know. I don´t feel very well.
Have you had (Did you have) breakfast? Just (Only) a glass of milk and a chocolate cookie
(biscuit).
I think you should eat something. You´re right. Come on. Take my arm and let´s go to a place where they make some delicious sandwiches.
As it´s a sunny day, we can sit outside in the sun and watch the people walking in the street.
You look a little pale. It will do you good to get some sun.
What time is it? It´s a quarter to ten. How nice! We still have half an hour before going back to work. That´s why I always come here every morning because it´s not so far from the office.
How tasty this vegetable sandwich is!
If it´s okay with you, we can meet at the same time tomorrow. Fine. Do you mind if my friend Marta comes?
No, I don´t mind at all. The more people the better.
Do you know that I´m going on vacation next week? How lucky you are! Where are you going?
I have a friend who lives in Malta. He has a small house near the beach.
He´s going to Canada for a few months, and if I want I can stay at his house. He´ll leave me the keys under a pot of sunflowers which is beside the door.
I wish I could go with you. I´d love to practice my English there.
Why don´t you come? I don´t know. I would have to talk to my boss. Perhaps I could take a week off.

216. Podemos...Have they lost their marbles?

The other day I was watching television and I saw a video which really surprised me.
I saw Mr Iñigo Errejon of Podemos lifting his fist in the air saying more or less; "Long live Chavez"
(SEE VIDEO LINK BELOW)
First of all, I was rather perplexed he said that. In fact, he "blew my mind".
I then started to ask myself has Mr. Errejon "lost his marbles".
What does Podemos really want, and most importantly, what kind of government do they believe in; and if they make Spain a better country for its citizens?
I don´t think Venezuela is exactly a good example of a free democratic country.
I have always thought of Venezuela as a dictatorship and where there is very little or no freedom of speech.
It is also said that Venezuela is the most corrupt Latin American country.
The most important thing for any civilized country is to have a democracy where there is equality, no repression at all, very little unemployment, and where people are happy with their lives and proud of the country they live in.
Anyway, I´m just confused why there is a connection between Podemos and Venezuela.
It seems, the news about Podemos being connected to Venezuela has already been talked about in newspapers and on television for a long time.
It´s very likely that if you don´t agree or dare to speak against the government, you will end up in prison or killed.
It´s very easy to lose one´s marbles. Politicians always promise a lot of things and say only those things people want to hear......but in the end it´s all blablabla.
I do agree that it´s good to have alternative political parties with fresh ideas, and who really and honestly are thinking about people and all the problems they have.
The problem is if they are truly honest. It´s so easy to be corrupted. There will always be easy money, so it´s easy to fall into the trap. In fact what Spain needs is a solid coalition of honest people working for the people to accomplish positive things:

1. Attract foreign companies by giving them a tax break in order to create jobs
2. Women must earn the same salaries as men
3. More investment in new technolgies and in scientific research
4. Improve the educational system
5. Improve the state health sysyetm

At the moment, Spain is lacking in equality. There are a lot of people who have earned a lot of money in this crisis, and there a lot of people who have lost their jobs, can´t pay the mortgage and don´t have much money to live.
It´s not fair that there are a lot of people receiving huge salaries, or have a lot of money stashed away in a fiscal paradise, and there are a lot other people working for peanuts.
It´s time to make a better future for the new generations to come, if not, we will all "lose our marbles".

Vocabulario
- You quit you job! Have you lost your marbles?  = Has dejado tu trabajo! ¿Te falta or tornillo o que?
"Have you lost your marbles"? = ¿Te falta un verano o que? / ¿O te falta un tornillo o que?
- Fist  = puño
- First of all = primeramente
- Rather = bastante

Otra expresion: "He blew my mind" : Me dejó de piedra / Me quedé alucinado
"Mind" significa mente
Tambien se dice: "You´re out of your mind"  = Estás loco
- Proud = orgulloso
- At all = en absoluto
- Anyway = de todas formas
- Just = simplemente
- There is = hay
- News = noticias
- Has already been = ya ha sido
- Likely = probable
- Dare = atreverse
- End up = terminar
- Feeling = impresion
- In the end = al final
- Truly = verdaderamente
- In fact = de hecho
- Accomplish = llevar a cabo
- Must earn = deben ganar
- Improve = mejorar
- Lacking = faltar
- Mortgage = hipoteca
- Fair = justo
- Stashed away = escondido
- Huge = enorme

215. Alan´s TRANSLATION 1.

Alan´s translation 1. (see solution below) The words in bold = negrita is important vocabulary.
Ejemplo:

Verbos                                 Vocabulario                          Frases hechas
- Look for = buscar            - Besides = ademas               - I have no idea = No tengo ni idea
- Devolver = return             - Trip = viaje                           - I don´t think so  = Creo que no

Si tienes alguna pregunta, preguntame

A proposito.
http://www.lovevalencia.com/intercambio-de-idioma-en-el-ubik-cafe-de-valencia.html

http://www.rong-chang.com/

Translation 1.
A mi me pasa igual.
Vamonos. Me está entrando hambre.

Translation solution
What are you doing? I´m looking for a book. Where do you think it is? I have no idea
It´s not mine. It´s my sister´s. The other day when I ate with her, she asked me about the book.
I told her I had returned it to her, but she told me she didn´t have it.
Besides, it´s not her book. It´s her best friend´s.
If I don´t find it, I´ll have to go to the bookshop and buy it. Are you sure you didn´t lend it to anyone?
I don´t think so. I don´t like to lend books. It´s a sure way of never seeing your book again.
You´re right. The same thing happens to me.
Well, what do you want to do? Let´s go to the center. I have to buy a suitcase for my trip to Ireland.
Later we can eat together in an Italian restuarant which is in a shopping center.
They make delicious pizzas.
After lunch we can go to a bookshop which is next to the restaurant.
How nice! I also want to buy a book to read on the bus.
Let´s go. I´m getting hungry.

214. ARE YOU SLEEPY?

ARE YOU SLEEPY?

Are you sleepy?
No se puede decir, “Do you have sleepy”?

Se usa el verbo ser /estar:
-    Are you sleepy?  = Tienes sueño??
-    Are you hungry? = ¿Tienes hambre?
Mas adelante, daré mas ejemplos

So, the question is, “Are you sleepy”?
I´m sure it´s a very big problem with a lot of people. To have a good night´s sleep every night would be wonderful.

There is a saying in English:
“Early to bed, early to rise, makes a person healthy and wise” = Quien madruga Dios le ayuda
Perhaps, it might be true that if you go to bed early, and get up early, it could help you get a good night´s sleep.
If you have to get up early to go to work, it´s really necessary to sleep well. You don´t  want to be at work yawning and feeling tired all day because you slept badly, and only a few hours.
Something which is very important, is to go to bed at that same time every night and also get up at the same time.

Sometimes sleep has been called “The little death”
When we sleep our body and mind can be almost dead. At times we need to move our bodies in bed or get up to pee to make sure we´re still alive.
Other times we can be in our dream world.
We need to sleep well to be feel good , be happy and have positive energy for the new day.

Here are some important things to remember in order to sleep well:
1. Where we sleep is very important. Make sure that your bedroom is well-ventilated. Have your window a little open. This will also help you breathe better.
2. Your bedroom should not have so much light  coming in through the                               window at night.
3. The mattress should be a little hard, and not so soft.
4. The pillow must be comfortable for your neck and not be very high.
5. Try to do some kind of exercise during the day or after work. It´s a good way to get rid of any kind of anxiety.
6. Have a light dinner and always two hours before going to bed.
7. Don´t drink so much coffee, especially in the late afternoon.
8. Try to sleep between six and eight hours.
9. Don´t go to bed angry or worried about something.
10. If you like to read in bed, try reading something that does not exite you or make you nervous.
11. Be careful if you use a tablet or an ebook when reading in bed. Their light can have an effect on your brain and affect your sleep.

Para "I am"...sería I´m
I´m hungry  =  Tengo hambre / Are you hungry = Tienes hambre?
I´m cold    =  Tengo frío / Are you cold? = Tienes frio?
She´s cold   =  Ella tiene frío / Is she cold = Tiene frio'
I´m hot = Tengo calor  / Are you hot?  =  ¿Tienes calor?
I´m very thirsty  Tengo mucha sed  / Are you very thirsty? = Tienes mucha sed?
I´m not thirsty   =  No tengo sed
I´m not so hungry  =  No tengo tanta hambre
I´m sleepy  =  Tengo sueño  / Are you sleepy?  =  ¿Tienes sueño?
I´m afraid = Tengo miedo  / Are you afraid? = Tienes miedo?
How old are you?  =  ¿Cuantos años tienes?
I´m twenty seven years old  =  Tengo veinte y siete años
I´m jealous  = Tengo celos  / Are you jealous? = Tienes celos?
I´m curious = Tengo curiosidad  / Are you curious? = Tienes curiosidad?
