331. PICKPOCKETS

Be very careful with PICKPOCKETS.  They can fuck up your day.
El verbo “pick” significa coger, escoger y recoger..…y “pocket” significa bolsillo.
PICKPOCKETS
Pickpockets are in every country in the world. They usually work in big and well known cities, especially where there are a lot of tourists or people walking in the city center.
Cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia people are very vulnerable to pickpockets…..because many of them are professionals and can steal whatever they want.
So you must be very careful and be fully aware, and it doesn´t matter if you are a tourist or not.
Therefore you must take some precautions:
Use your eyes and be aware of the people around you and especially watch people if they get too close to you.
-Avoid crowded places. Where there are crowded places, there are a lot of pickpockets.
-Don´t fall asleep on the train, plane or on the underground.
-Never leave your luggage unattended at the airport.
-If you wear a backpack, put the packpack in the front, not on your back. Put the valuable items in the bottom of the packpack and non-important things on top.
-If you are a woman wearing a handbagmake sure it´s in the front and cross it over your chest.
-Don´t put anything in your backpockets, such as wallets or cell phones. Put these things in your front pockets.
-And of course, never put your cellphone on the table if you´re having a drink or lunch.
-Don´t carry so much money on you.
-Leave important credit cards and passports at the hotel. Only take one credit card with you.
So remember, use your eyes well.

330. WAY TOO FAST

Finally....A VERY GOOD IDEA

I was reading the news in The Levante newspaper that the Valencian local government is going to take measures to solve the big problem of exceeding the speed limits in many streets and avenues and causing terrible accidents.
Finally....A VERY GOOD IDEA
Imagen - Jesus Signes

They are going to install radars in some problematic avenues, as well as cameras when drivers jump red lights.
A lot of people drive "way too fast" and therefore, there are more accidents, especially on avenues such as Blasco Ibañez,  Los Naranjos and the Puerto Avenues.
The speed limit is 50, but drivers often drive much faster than that.
The other main problem are the motorcycle drivers.
There are motorcycles which easily reach 80 kilometers per hour or a lot more on many avenues.
At this speed it´s very easy to run over pedestrians who are crossing the crosswalk, or even crash into another car because it´s impossible to stop at that speed.
The main cause of accidents in Valencia is because people drive way too fast.
This was the case when a crazy motorcycle driver was going at 103 kilometers per hours in Benicalap.
The driver lost control and crashed into a terrace killing an older woman and injuring 16 people.
Finally....A VERY GOOD IDEA
People from other parts of Spain and tourists say that Valencian drivers are too agressive when they drive.
They constantly change lanes to go as fast as possible.
Drivers always seem to be in a big hurry to go somewhere and don´t respect the speed limit.

La palabra “Way” tiene muchos significados:
En el articúlo donde pone “way too fast”, way se usa para dar mas enfasis al adjetivo usando too.

Otos usos de la palabra “WAY”
That way = por alli
It´s a long way = es un largo camino
On my way to work = de camino al trabajo
I´m on my way = Estoy de camino
Don´t go out of your way = no te tomes muchas molestias
Am I in your way? = ¿Te estorbo?
It´s that way = es en esa direccion

229. "One´s Dog"

You can change the order of the letters of the word dog and make another word.....God.
Just think. If you are lucky to have a dog, then God is also in your home.
A dog gives you love forever, as long as you treat him or her well, take it out for a walk, and of course feed him and sometimes give it prizes when you want to teach him something.
I´m sure you know the saying, “A dog is a man´s best friend”
If you are looking for a dog, perhaps the dog will find you.
It is said that a dog has been man´s best friend for forty thousand years. That is a long time.
And…why?
-Your dog can protect you because it is part of the family.
-Your dog is the first to come running to you to say hello when you come into your house.
-If you live alone, or you are an older person , then a dog is the perfect company.
-A dog knows when when you are sad or angry and will try to make you feel better.  Your dog willl send you positive vibrations.
-If a salesman comes knocking on your door, your dog will probably start barking and chase away the annoying salesman.
-You need to take out your dog for a walk during the day. This will make you feel more relaxed; simply by walking. And who knows, you might meet your soul mate.
-A dog knows how to live and just wants to be happy. Your dog will also make you happy.
-A dog has the ability to live in the present moment.
Therefore, if you are smart, you can learn a lot from your best and very smart friend…your wonderful dog.

227. Poem - "I´m feeling good"

I´m feeling good
Getting up
Knocking on wood
No aches and pains
Feeling like a pup
Standing on the terrace
Watching the sun come up
The sea in the distance
I can smell its breeze
It´s going to be a nice day
Oh, I´m going to sneeze
It´s time for the morning coffee
What do you want me to say?
I love the smell and taste of coffee
It wakes me up
Only once a day
And all I need is a big cup
Now it´s time for a walk
Along the seashore
There´s no need to talk
Inhaling the seabreeze
To my very core
How wonderful it is to sneeze
Gentle waves cool my feet
You probably think this poem is a bore
But I don´t give a shit

Ahora traducido literalmente al español

Me siento bien
Levantándome
Tocando madera
Me despierta
Solamente una vez al día
Y solo necesito una taza grande
Ahora es el momento para pasear

Por la orilla del mar
No hace falta hablar
Inhalando la brisa del mar
Hasta lo mas profundo de mi ser
Que maravilla estornudar!
Olas tranquilas refrescan mi pies
Probablemente crees que este poema es aburrido
Pero me importa un bledo
