152.) El Infinitivo

"We need to run......we´re going to be late for the meeting"

    "Necesitamos darnos prisa o vamos a llegar tarde para la reunión"

El infinitivo del verbo es poniendo "TO" + VERBO + EL OBJETO CUANDO HACE FALTA

1.) Muchas veces es simplemente poniendo "TO" entre dos verbos
Ejemplos:
-I like to write  = Me gusta escribir
-We have to go  = Tenemos que irnos
-You need to sleep  = Necesitas dormir
-I want to help you  =  Quiero ayudarte
-Do you like to paint on walls?  = ¿Te gusta pintar sobre las paredes?
-We love to eat Chinese food  =  Nos encanta comer comida china
-Alex went to play tennis with his friends  = Alex se fue a jugar al tenis con sus amigos
-Did you ask Susan to teach you German?  = ¿Le preguntaste a Susan que te enseñara alemán?

2.) También se usa "TO" + VERBO" como sujeto de la frase
Ejemplos:
-To swim in this cold water is crazy  = Nadar en esta agua fría es una locura
-To rent an apartment can be better than buying one at the moment   = Alquilar un piso puede ser mejor que comprar uno en este momento
-To save money is very difficult for many people  = Ahorrar dinero es muy difícil para mucha gente
-To have a job that you really like is not so easy  = Tener un trabajo que realmente te gusta no es tan fácil
-To be a good cook is not that easy  = Ser un buen cocinero no es tan fácil

3.) También se pone el infinitivo "TO" + VERBO" al final de la frase y como complemento del verbo 
Ejemplos:
-It´s against the law to eat in the car when driving  =  Va en contra de la ley comer en el coche cuando se conduce
-It´s not a good idea to call them yet   = No es una buena idea llamarles todavía
-We all went to the bar to celebrate Tom´s birthday  = Todos fuimos al bar * para celebrar el cumpleaños de Tom
*Aunque en español se usa "PARA" + VERBO, no se dice: "FOR TO"
-I bought this special knife to cut cured ham  = Compré este cuchillo especial para cortar jamón curado
-Our boss has something very important to tell us = Nuestro jefe tiene algo muy importante que decirnos
-We went to the countryside for the weekend to get away from the city  = Nos fuimos al campo durante el fin de semana para escaparnos de la ciudad
-It would be a pity not to go to Paris and visit your brother  = Sería una pena no ir a París para visitar a tu hermano.
-I went to bed late, so it was impossible to get up early  = Me acosté tarde, así que fue imposible levantarme pronto

4.) También se usa los  PRONOMBRES INTERROGATIVOS + "TO" + VERBO"
Ejemplos:
-As we were lost, we asked someone how to get to the train station  = Como estábamos perdidos, preguntamos a alguien como llegar a la estación de tren
-I was so surprised that I didn´t know what to say  = Estaba tan sorprendido que no sabía que decir
-I wish I knew where to buy old records  = Ojala supiera donde comprar viejos discos
-I don´t know how to fix my computer  = No se como arreglar mi ordenador
-My boss didn´t tell me when to call them  = Mi jefe no me dijo cuando llamarles
-My friend doesn´t know which book to buy  = Mi amigo no sabe que libro comprar

5.) También se usa "TOO"+ ADJETIVO + TO + VERBO = DEMASIADO  o "SO" + ADJETIVO +"TO" + VERBO  = TAN
Ejemplos:
-It´s too hot to climb the mountain  = Hace demasiado calor para escalar la montaña
The bicycle was too big to put in the car  = La bici era demasiada grande para meter en el coche
-Tracy who is only eleven, is too young to have a boyfriend  = Tracy que solo tiene once años es demasiada joven para tener un novio
-I´m too drunk to drive  = Estoy demasiado borracho para conducir
-It´s too far to drive in one day  = Es demasiado lejos para conducir en un día
-We were so tired to go out  = Estábamos tan cansados para salir
-I´m so happy to see you again  = Estoy tan contento verte de nuevo
-We were so sad to hear the bad news  = Estábamos tan tristes al oír las malas noticias

6). Ejemplos solamente usando adjetivos + infinitivo:

-It´s nice to see you again  = Me alegro verte de nuevo
-It was very interesting to talk to you about your country  = Fue muy interesante hablar contigo acerca de tu país
-We are sorry to hear that Linda is very ill  = Lamentamos saber que Linda está muy enferma
-It was impossible to finish my report  = Fue imposible terminar mi informe
-I´m delighted to meet you  = Encantado conocerte
-Nice to meet you / Pleased to meet you = Encantado conocerte
-It´s very nice of you to take me to the airport  = Muy amable por su parte llevarme al aeropuerto

7. NO SE USA "TO"con un VERBO con los verbos modales (CAN / COULD / MUST / SHOULD..... Y EL AUXILIAR "WOULD")

No se puede decir: I can´t to go to the party
Ejemplos:
-We can´t go to the party  = No podemos ir a la fiesta
-Alex couldn´t come to work today  = Alex no pudo venir al trabajo hoy
-You must never tell your boss that  = Nunca debes decirle eso a tu jefe
-I should call my mother  = Debería llamar a mi madre
-I would buy a new car if I had more money  = Me compraría un coche nuevo si tuviera mas dinero
