379 "ARE YOU SLEEPY"

Are you sleepy? = ¿Tienes sueño?

Ver: tema 149

Hay palabras como “sleepy”, el cual es un adjetivo, en español dices “Tienes”.
Pero....Nada que ver con el verbo “tener” = HAVE
No se puede decir, “Do you have sleepy”?

SE DICE: ARE YOU SLEEPY?

Se usa HAVE cuando posees o te afecto algo:

DO YOU HAVE A BICYCLE?

I HAVE A COLD  = TENGO UN RESFRIADO

I HAVE a headache  =  Tengo un dolor de cabeza

Se usa el verbo ser /estar:
-      Are you sleepy?  = ?Tienes sueño?
-      Are you hungry? = ¿Tienes hambre?
Mas adelante, daré mas ejemplos

So, the question is, “Are you sleepy”?
I´m sure it´s a very big problem with a lot of people. To have a good night´s sleep every night would be wonderful.

Now listen to me speaking in English using "Are you........?

There is a saying in English:

“Early to bed early to rise, makes a man healthy and wise” = Quien madruga Dios le ayuda

Perhaps, it might be true that if you go to bed early, and get up early, it could help you get a good night´s sleep.
If you have to get up early to go to work, it´s really necessary to sleep well. You don´t  want to be at work yawning and feeling tired all day because you slept bad, and only a few hours.

Something which is very important is to go to bed at that same time every night and also get up at the same time.
So, what can we do to sleep well?
Sometimes sleep has been called “The little death”
When we sleep our body and mind can be almost dead. At times we need to move our bodies in bed or get up to pee to make sure we´re still alive.
Other times we can be in our dream world.
We need to sleep well to be feel good, be happy and have positive energy for the new day.

Here are some important things to remember in order to sleep well:
1.    Where we sleep is very important. Make sure that your bedroom is well-ventilated. Have your window a little open. This will also help you breathe better.
Your bedroom should not have so much light coming in through the                               window at night.
2    The mattress should be a little hard, and not so soft.
3    The pillow must be comfortable for your neck and not be very high.
4    Try to do some kind of exercise during the day or after work. It´s a good way to get rid of any kind of anxiety.
5    Have a light dinner and always two hours before going to bed.
6    Don´t drink so much coffee, especially in the late afternoon.
7    Try to sleep between six and eight hours.
8    Don´t go to bed angry or worried about something.
9    If you like to read in bed, try reading something that does not excite you or make you nervous.
1    Be careful if you use a tablet or an ebook when reading in bed. It´s light can have a negative effect on your brain and affect your sleep.

Como he explicado arriba de todo, hay ADJETIVOS en inglés que se usa el verbo ser/ estar, como “sleepy y hungry”…… pero hay mas:

378. The Martians have landed (Part 1-)

Here´s the first part of a story I wrote. Hope you laugh.

The Martians have landed ( Part 1.)

The Martians scared the shit out of me and landed last week right in front of my very eyes.
I was walking in the street around four o´clock in the morning when I suddenly saw a bright light in the sky.
There were a few people who were also in that part of town, and I noticed they couldn´t move at all because a blue light was just above their heads.
I, on the other hand had a white light which was penetrating my entire body with pure star energy.
was able to move, even take a picture with my cell phone as I watched a beautiful enormous spaceship land fifty meters in front of me.
The Martians have landed ( Part 1.)
I thought I was dreaming. No way is this happening.
Nevertheless, I was in awe and I felt so good, alive and full of energy.
My body began to move slowly elevating upwards in the air and moving in the direction of a light green light coming out from a door which had just opened.
The light made me move, go in and sit down in a cushion in the center of a glass floor.
My eyes were closed because the light was so bright.
I then realized that someone was talking to me in English.
“Hi Alan. It´s a pleasure to meet you. Don´t worry. We saw you walking in the street by yourself and you were thinking about how bright Venus was.
But, most importantly, we also noticed you were wearing a very nice dark brown leather jacket.
The Martians have landed ( Part 1.)
We want to know where you bought it? As we come from Mars, it´s pretty cold here, so we want to buy these leather jackets for the entire crew.
We are human like you, but of course we are far more superior as we have lived for millions of years.
We can travel all over any galaxy, but so far, Earth is the only place that sells the jacket you are wearing.
In Mars, people love to ride fantastic looking motorcycles like the photo below. Here on Mars people can design their own custom motorbike, and they can go on land or fly in space.
The Martians have landed ( Part 1.)
We like your jacket because it looks like a motorcycle jacket that will keep us warm when wer´re riding in space. As soon as we have one, we can copy and make them for all our motorcycle riders on our planet.
We´ll put a sticker on the back of the jacket called "Space Angels", cause that´s what we are.
Mars is a motorcycle planet. A lot of riders come to Mars when they die so they can ride all over space; and once a year they can go down to Earth and go anywhere they want on their motorcycle. That´s the vacation for them who were born on Earth.

We all have wings of course and people born on Mars can go anywhere.
A lot of us love to go to Earth with our motorcycles and visit Las Vegas and of course ride on Route 66 through beautiful Arizona, Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon.

Anyway, we would like you to order for us 100 hundred jackets like yours.
We will give you a credit card so you can buy them. If you do us this favor, we have permission to give you special powers and make you immortal.
You will also be able to visit us anytime you want, and of course you will have the power to travel anywhere you want with your motorbike. We know you like Honda Gold Wings, so this one is for you.
The Martians have landed ( Part 1.)
All you have to do is think about a place you want to go to, and in a blink of an eye you will arrive there with your motorcycle.
This way you can also pay us a visit and come ride with us..... and we´ll also ride with you of course

377. Problems of sleeping with another person

Sleeping in the same bed as your partner 'can increase the risk of depression, heart disease and stroke'
Sleeping separately could be better for your health
Snoring, fighting for the blanket and being pushed out of bed by your bed mate are all too common woes for anyone who’s ever shared a bed with a partner, romantic or otherwise.

For some people in long-term relationships, occasionally having a bed to yourself is a secret guilty pleasure, but according to new research, you may not have to feel so guilty after all.
In a study by the University of Leeds and Silentnight, it has been discovered that 29 per cent of people blame their partners for why they can’t get a good night’s sleep.
“Almost a third of Brits say they can't get a good night's sleep because they are disturbed by their partner,” sleep expert Dr Nerina Ramlakhan said.

Few couples have the same bedtime routines or sleeping habits, and it’s no secret that lack of sleep results in bad moods and lack of focus, but it also results in an increased risk of  health problems including obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
There are times that some people go to bed earlier than their partner because he or she has to get up very early, and of course you turn off the light because you feel sleepy.
But an hour later, your partner goes to bed and turns on the light to read or perhaps even watch televisión, and most likely wake up the person who was sleeping and maybe even get angry.

But it’s not worth breaking up over: a recent study by LM Research found that those of us in happy relationships sleep better than singletons or those in unhappy relationships, as they feel secure and less anxious.

So what can you do? A goodnight kiss is a good place to start, with 71 per cent of those studied reportedly sleeping better as a result and 36 per cent admitting their sleep would be disturbed if they didn’t get to kiss their partner goodnight. "Sharing a kiss with the one you love before bedtime can help eliminate the stress of the day," said Dr Ramlakhan.
And it seems the old adage of never going to sleep on an argument may hold some truth: 70 per cent of us sleep better after saying ‘I love you’ to our partners, whether that’s in the same bed or separate.

Getting a good night´s sleep is what everyone wants. If not one will very cranky and stressed the next morning.
